Overview & Eligibility
The Skilled Worker route is for eligible sponsored employment with a UK employer approved by the Home Office. The job must be eligible, the employer must sponsor the role, and the salary normally needs to meet both the general salary requirement and the occupation’s going rate.
Current standard salary rule: normally at least £41,700 per year and the applicable going rate, whichever is higher. Reduced rates can apply in specified circumstances.
Key Eligibility Checklist
- Valid Certificate of Sponsorship from an approved UK employer
- Eligible occupation under the Skilled Worker rules

- Required English-language ability, normally CEFR B2 for new applicants
- Satisfies the points-based system and suitability requirements
- Required maintenance funds unless an exemption applies

- Certificate of Sponsorship reference
- Job title, occupation code, salary and employer details
- English-language evidence or accepted exemption
- Evidence of personal savings where maintenance must be shown
- TB certificate where required
- Criminal record certificate where required for the occupation
- Family/dependant documents where applicable
