Overview & Eligibility
The Student route is for applicants aged 16 or over who have an offer from a licensed student sponsor. You normally need a valid CAS, enough money for outstanding course fees and required living costs, and the required English-language ability. Applicants aged 16 or 17 may need parental consent.
Current maintenance: £1,529 per month in London or £1,171 per month outside London, up to 9 months, plus outstanding course fees, subject to the Immigration Rules and permitted exemptions.
Key Eligibility Checklist
- Offer of a place from a licensed Student sponsor and valid CAS
- Genuine Student requirement satisfied
- Required funds for outstanding course fees and maintenance, normally held for 28 consecutive days
- Required English-language ability or an applicable exemption
- Parental consent and care arrangements where the applicant is 16 or 17
- ATAS certificate where required for the course
